Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of Behcet Uz Children’s Hospital is a single 24-bed tertiary pediatric intensive care unit with 3 separate halls and 4 isolation rooms. The purpose of the unit is the provision of specialized care for children with critical illness in areas under the supervision of skilled and specially trained team of physicians and nurses. We provide comprehensive care for over 500 patients per year with complex diagnosis, such as cardiac and respiratory diseases, congenital anomalies, metabolic and neurometabolic disorders, severe infections, poisonings, cancer patients who need intensive care, and patients who need post-operative care after cardiac surgery.
Another aim is the continuing education of the members of the health care team members. The unit is part of pediatric residency program and one of the units with pediatric intensive care fellowship program.
